Martin supports UN action on poverty

Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood has used his position on a powerful parliamentary committee to support the UN's efforts to tackle urban poverty and the terrible conditions in some of the world's worst slums.

Tory MPs attacked the UN representative for allegedly wasting public money. But Martin praised their efforts at small-scale finance and ensuring local governments made clean, cheap water supplies available to the poorest slum-dwellers.
