Cheltenham-based Commercial Group, renowned for their green credentials, has secured a new opportunity to supply members of the House of Commons. They have set up a new and innovative on line ordering tool for office supplies, in partnership with Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, the expenses watchdog that regulates all MPs' business costs and expenses. Until now most MPs sourced their stationery, printer cartridges and other office supplies from various suppliers.
Local MP Martin Horwood, who first praised Commercial Group's environmental credentials in the House of Commons at an Industry and Parliament Trust meeting in 2009, is delighted: 'This is good news for Commercial, good news for Cheltenham and particularly good news for MPs who will now have a cost-competitive alternative for their office supplies and be able to polish their own green credentials at the same time. I'm certainly going to switch to Commercial immediately and encourage as many other MPs as possible to do likewise. It's a high-profile coup for an outstanding local firm.'
Simone Hindmarch-Bye from Commercial is excited about the new arrangement: 'We are delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to grow our business within the public sector, by helping IPSA to find ways to reduce cost.'
IPSA commented 'We are delighted to be working with Commercial as part of our service improvements to make claiming MPs' business costs and expenses easier.'
