'Children's health a top priority' says Cheltenham's MP12.59.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 25th Apr 2008 While David Cameron was visiting Cheltenham today, Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood was in Parliament fighting Conservative MPs determined to defeat an important private member's bill aimed at protecting children's health. The Food Products (Marketing to Children) Bill was subject to concerted attack from Tory MPs who argued that it would damage advertising revenues. The bill aims to restrict advertising of unhealthy food to children. Martin said "I'm always pleased to see visitors to Cheltenham, but as a fellow parent of young children I would have preferred to see David Cameron in the Commons supporting this important bill. Instead the Conservative front bench is leading the charge against it and putting advertising revenue ahead of our children's health".
