LOCAL MP Martin Horwood was elected today as Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Education at their AGM. The group provides an important forum for debate on education policy at national level.

Martin commented: 'I'm very pleased to take up this position. Education policy affects every town in the country and although Cheltenham has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in both the independent and state sectors, decisions taken over the next few years can and will affect local families and children'.

'Already it is clear that debate is needed about admissions policies, future funding for schools, foundations and academies and the national curriculum. I'm delighted that I'll be able to play my part in the national debate'.
